Code-share contracts
The strategic decision of PLL LOT to join STAR ALLIANCE was an important turning point in the commercial policy of the company and the beginning of cooperation with numerous carriers, including the largest European partner o the Alliance - Lufthansa.Among other partners, the members of the alliance who LOT cooperates with there are: Air Canada, Austrian, bmi, SAS, Spanair, TAP, United Airlines, and recently All Nippon. In the nearest future we plan to conclude code share contracts with: Asiana, THAI Airways and South African.
Code share contracts that LOT concludes with other airlines constitute grounds for creating joint offer between large ports and regional points destined for local and transit transport.
All code share contracts concluded by LOT with the members of Star Alliance are free flow contracts. The cooperation based on free flow principle provides that within the limits of reservation classes partners have equal access to capacity that is sold and consequently the flexibility and the scope of their joint sales volume is much higher.
The membership of PLL LOT in the coalition of Star Alliance strengthened the position of LOT on Canadian and American markets thanks to among others, the cooperation with Air Canada(AC) and United Airlines(UA). The carriers cooperate with each other not only in terms of direct connections to Toronto, Chicago and New York but also through the selected European ports e.g. in Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich. The code share contract with United Airlines (UA) carrier was concluded in October 2003 and at the beginning it comprised inter-American flights through transit points in USA: New York and Chicago. In the nearest future the list of ports comprising code share flights of LOT/United Airlines will include Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam and London. It will improve PLL LOT offer on the Polish and American markets.
