The railway is still subjected to extensive repairs, but with nowadays long journey between main cities in Poland, fans could not manage to catch next game. The quickest and the most dynamically growing sector of transport is the air transport and with it, the development of the entire airport infrastructure. During the EURO 2012 host cities airports will have to deal with handling an additional 400 thousand passengers before and after each game. The number of departures and arrivals increased by 300 operations per day. Are our airports prepared for it? All the information can be found on the website www.actiaconferences.com .

New mail system at LOT Cargo

LOT Polish Airlines, as one of the first airlines in Europe, has implemented Mailsuite - operating & revenue system for mail shipments. Mail scanning and invoicing provided by the system facilitates and quickens the service. It also improves the level of mail safety and security on the whole route.

Mailsuite, together with CargoSpot implemented in 2010, are complex and modern systems used by LOT Cargo to maintain the best quality service for Sales Agents and Post Offices all over the world.

LOT Cargo signed a contract with Traxon Europe

In March 2011 Cargo & Mail Bureau at LOT Polish Airlines signed an agreement with Traxon Europe. This deal enables Traxon users to send cargo messages directly to CargoSpot, which is used by LOT Polish Airlines. The majority of those cargo messages are AWBs, HAWBs, cargo manifests, shipment updates.

The agreement reduces the number of paper documents because the messages are sent via the internet. It improves the quality of service offered by LOT Cargo and has a positive impact on environment.

The agreement with Traxon Europe, as well agreements with Champ and Descartes offer complex service for LOT Cargo's Agents.

ICS at LOT Polish Airlines

According to European Union regulations and requirements, Cargo & Mail Bureau at LOT Polish Airlines is currently implementing Import Control System (ICS). The system obliges the carrier to send shipment declarations to the customs before the goods enter European Union. The declaration should be in electronic version and it should consist of the following data:

 -        sender data
-         recipient data
-         cargo description and weight
-         port of origin and port of destination
-         flight number
-         aircraft number

The main goal for implementing this system is to secure all shipments entering EU and to ensure that none of them threatens the safety of the society and environment.

The implementation of ICS at LOT Polish Airlines is due in April 2011.

LOT Cargo informacja

We were sadly informed that our closest friend, Jos van der Woensel had passed away.
For years was Jos LOT Cargo's Agent in the Netherlands. He was also the biggest fan of Poland, specially it's history and culture. We shall never forget his kindness, warmth and every day enthusiasm in coooperation with LOT.

LOT Polish Airlines has been approved as a registered agent for airports

According to the decision of The Civil Aviation Office of the Republic of Poland, dated September 30th, LOT Polish Airlines has been approved as a registered agent for the airports in Warsaw, Gdansk, Katowice, Krakow, Poznan, Rzeszow, Szczecin and Wroclaw.

The decision was made in order to ensure the safety and security of cargo and mail carried on aircraft. Being a registered agent means LOT Polish Airlines complies with the civil aviation security rules and restrictions included in the Regulation No 300/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of March 11th, 2008 as well as in the National Civil Aviation Security Program.

As per the above legal acts, each cargo item must go through a security check in order to ensure it doesn’t threaten the safety and security of the aircraft. In compliance with Polish law, security checks in Poland are provided by The Boarder Guard. All other duties assigned to the registered agent are executed by LOT’s employees.

LOT Cargo won Awionetka 2010 prize

On October 7th LOT Polish Airlines received the prestigious Awionetka prize in two categories: “Event of the Year” for opening a new route from Warsaw to Hanoi, and “Innovative Solution of the Year” for establishing a direct freighter connection from Poland to Canada.
LOT’s all cargo connection from Katowice to Hamilton was awarded by the jury for „boldly promoting the Polish cargo market and transatlantic cooperation” as well as for “shining a bright light of innovation” on the Polish cargo market.

The first direct connection from Poland to Canada was opened in November 2009. The main purpose of the connection was to offer adequate cargo capacity on transatlantic routes in the winter season, when the number of passenger flights is lower. The other reason was to offer clients a wider and more complex set of services, while being more competitive in this part of Europe.

To this end the chosen destination airport in Poland became the Pyrzowice Airport (KTW), located close to the Czech, Slovakian, Austrian and Hungarian markets. The airport also offered attractive terms of cooperation.

Thanks to establishing weekly freighter flights, LOT has increased the quantity of cargo and mail on transatlantic routes by 50 percent compared to 2009. The freighter has allowed for transport of larger shipments as well as those unaccepted on passenger flights.

Flights from Katowice to Hamilton take place every Sunday at 01.00 p.m.

New cargo connection through LOT

LOT Polish Airlines introduces a new cargo connection between Warsaw and Minsk (Belarus). Flights will take place two times a week. The new connection is being made available through a partnership between LOT and Genex Ltd. This is the second regular freight route introduced by LOT in the past few months.

The first cargo flight between Warsaw and Minsk took place on Tuesday, 2 March. The commencement of freight service between Poland and Belarus is a result of growing demand for this type of service in the air freight market.

"We carry a very large amount of cargo and mail to Minsk from the United States and Canada. Available space on passenger aircraft is inadequate, and the possibility of transporting mail overland is very limited due to Belorussian law. Introducing this new connection increases our service on that route, and improves the quality and speed of deliveries", said Mariusz Kuczek, Director of the Office of Mail and Cargo at LOT Polish Airlines.

LOT Polish Airlines sees great potential in the carriage of cargo and mail. In November of 2009 the first regular, direct cargo connections in history between Poland and Canada were introduced. A high level of interest from shipping companies has confirmed the need for expansion of this sector of LOT's services.

LOT cargo flights between Warsaw and Minsk will take place two times a week, on Tuesday and Friday on Antonov An-26 aircraft with a cargo capacity of 5 tons.
