Six different line connect the airport to different points in Beijing: Xidan, Gongzhufen, Fangzhuang, Beijing Railway Station, Zhongguancun, and Nanyuan. Buses also stop at the major hotels. The other way to reach the center is to take a Metro. Passengers can use Metro Airport Express Line, which runs from 06: 35 to 23:10. Metro stops at four stations: Dongzhimen, Sanyuanqiao, T3 and T2. To move around Beijing it is recommended to take subway, as it is the most convenient means of transportation. One ticket costs 2 RMB and it is can be used from the first validation in the subway until we will be leaving the subway. In other words, in one ticket you can change trains many times. Before entering any subway station, there is a checkpoint where every bag is being controlled, like at the airports. Fuxingmen and Jianguomen are the interchange stations, where you can change from line number 1 to line number 2 without the need to validate another ticket. However, to change the line 2 for number 13 you have to buy a new ticket, except in the case of having a combined ticket for both lines. Combined ticket costs 5 RMB. Tickets are valid only on the day of purchase.
You can also use public buses in Beijing, but there are few things you need to know. Bus stops in Beijing are described in Chinese, but often in buses there is an information in English about the next stop. Bus transportation has 700 lines. Most of the buses runs from 5.30 to 20.30, some to 21.30 or 23.00. Mostly buses pull up every few minutes, while on the most busy lines they run in pairs or threes. Tickets may be purchased directly at the bus, from the person who sells tickets. The cost of travel is 1 RMB in buses without air-conditioning and 2 RMB in air-conditioned ones.
