How should you choose
The prices of accommodation in London hotels vary, depending in which area you would like to stay.
Of course the most expensive is the first zone, which is around strict city center. Double room in this area costs about £ 80 per person. If you intend to stay in London for a longer period, the best will be second and third zones. Prices here are lower for almost a half than in the first one, but you will still be close to the center. Going further the prices will get much lower, but you also have to add the transportation cost (which is one of the highest in the world!).
Hotel, hostel or maybe something else?
Hotels in London are among the most expensive in the world. Regular cost of one night is around 100 PLN per person and this is a very good opportunity. The best price offer hotels located far from a city center. If you are a budget traveller you definitely should find a place in a hostel. Without a doubt this is the best option for people who want to be in a city center and not spend fortune.
If you are not afraid of sleeping in a shared dorm in a pretty good price and most importantly a good location you should stay in a place like this. If you value comfort, but prefer to stay in more private place than hotel, you should consider renting private apartment. They are usually very well equipped and you can always find something in a good location. Also popular amongst tourists is "Bed and Breakfast" option, then in addition to the guaranteed accommodation, you can also have famous english breakfast.
Which area is the best
There is no easy answer in which area of London you should look for an accommodation. There is no such thing like one city center. Every zone has its own atmosphere, many things to see and activities to do. If you however would like to stay in the most central districts, you should consider West End, Bloomsbury, Country Hall, Victoria or for the business travellers City of London (Tower Bridge).
In West End you will find mostly high-end hotels and going to further districts the variety of accommodation possibilities is getting wider. These are all great locations if you plan to stay in London for a short time and would like to see as much as possible. Also if you are flying from Heathrow airport it is very convenient to stay in Acton (West End). This area is very close to Piccadilly line, which can take you directly to the airport.
