Sheremetyevo International Airport
In capital of Russia, Moscow, are located five airports. The biggest and the most important one is Sheremetyevo International Airport, which was founded in 1959, based on military airport. The airports are served by over 40 international airlines and in 2014 handled almost 20 million passengers. There are five (B, C, D, E, F) terminals. The area of the airports the is really huge and that’s why there are available means of transport between terminals: buses, express buses, taxis (fixed fee) and free airport shuttle bus (travel time: 15 minutes).
How to get there
Sheremetyevo International Airport is located 28 km northwest from the city centre and 11 km from the Moscow Ring Road. This area is known for huge traffic jams, so remember to plan your trip carefully and be ready for a long way. The fastest means of transport is the train. You can use the direct connection between the Belorussky Railway Station and Terminal 2 at the airport, it takes you about 35 minutes. Trains run every 30 minutes from 5 am to 23:30.
You can also use a buses: line number 851 from the metro station Rechnoi Vokzal, or 817 from the Planernaya station. If you don’t like public transport than you should choose taxi. At the airport taxis are readily available outside of 1st floor Arrivals at Terminals C, D, E and F. Official taxis can hired at the Taxi Desk located inside of the terminals.
Saint Petersburg Pulkovo Airport is one of the biggest airports in Russia. The airport was built in 1932. In 1948, after the damage was completely repaired, the airport resumed scheduled passenger flights and from the 1965 airport meets standards ICAO of first category. Today, Pulkovo is the fourth busiest airport in Russia. In 2014 it handled almost 15 million passengers.
