Celebrating Together

28 August, celebrated as Polish Aviation Day, is a special date in our calendar. LOT’s annual celebrations are an opportunity to meet, talk and celebrate what is especially close to our hearts — aviation and the work that inspires us every day.

This year’s theme for this special day referred to the 100th anniversary of Bolesław Orliński and Leonard Kubiak’s flight on the Warsaw–Tokyo–Warsaw route. In 1926, completing this journey was a remarkable pioneering expedition. Today, Tokyo is one of the destinations in our route network, and we cover the same route in a completely different way — on board our comfortable Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

Throughout the day, our employees, colleagues and invited guests could enjoy, among other things:

  • the Institute of National Remembrance exhibition “100 Years of an Extraordinary Journey” – taking us back to 1926 and the remarkable flight of Orliński and Kubiak,
  • a scarf exhibition – tracing the history of one of the most distinctive elements of our cabin crew uniform and showing how it has changed over the years,
  • a coffee meeting zone – a place to enjoy a cup of coffee, have a conversation and take a short break between the day’s activities.

Recognising Our Colleagues

In keeping with our long-standing tradition, we also presented the “Distinguished Service to LOT Polish Airlines” awards, honouring 38 of our colleagues this year whose attitude, commitment and everyday work make a significant contribution to LOT’s development and success.
