The Old Town of Vilnius is rather compact and the picturesque location of the inner city encourages visitors to have a stroll. Buses and trolleybuses do not enter the Old Town.
In Vilnius there are over 60 bus and 20 trolley bus lines. All passengers have to get on buses through the front door only and get off through all the remaining doors. The holders of the Vilnius City Card are allowed to use the public transport. The city card providing tourists many discounts can be bought at Vilnius Tourist Information Centre at Vilniaus g. 22.
The international airport of Vilnius is located 6 kilometers from the Old Town. The route from the railway station to the airport is served by a special train or Toks minibuses. Another way to get to the city from the airport is by the public buses.
If you wish to get to the city by taxi you can pick up a taxi at an official taxi rank located in front of the arrivals hall. In order to avoid frauds visitors should always ask for receipts after reaching destination. Depending on the route length a taxi costs about 10-12 EUR.
