The historic capital of the Wielkopolska is located on the Warta river, and it is one of the oldest, largest and most beautiful Polish cities. The inhabitants of the city are famous for thrift, openness and kindness.
Poznań is extremely rich in cultural achievements and has an interesting history, therefore it is worth visiting it, getting to know the special character and the most interesting parts of the city.
The best known monument of Poznań is the Renaissance Town Hall at the Old Market (Stary Rynek) which comes from the 14th century - a two-storey building in which you can visit, e.g. the Great Vestibule, also known as the Great Hall, the Royal Hall, and the Court Hall. Every day, the bugle-call of Poznań is played on a town hall tower, and at noon, two mechanical fighting goats are played out on the middle tower of the town hall.
One of the most popular places in the city is the Lake Malta that attracts crowds of tourists and inhabitants of Poznań for the whole year. In the vicinity of the lake, there are a lot of leisure facilities, such as the Poznański Węzeł Rowerowy (Poznań Bicycle Route), an artificial skating rink, the zoo, the sport and leisure facility "Termy Maltańskie", the Freedom Hill (Kopiec Wolnośći) and the Malta regatta course. There is also a 60 metres high fountain on the Lake Malta. It is the largest floating fountain installation in Poland.
