Located between the Odra River and its tributaries, Oława, Widawa and Ślęża, makes along with channels, bridges and the Wrocław Water Hub. As a result, the city happens to be called by tourists similarly like, for example, Amsterdam or Stockholm, the Venice of the North as well as the city of thousand bridges and churches, although the number is a bit too high.

The most important place in Wrocław is the beautiful Market with the Gothic Town Hall, in whose tower there is the oldest clock bell that comes from 1368. In the cellars of the Town Hall, since 1275 operates Piwnica Świdnicka - the restaurant, where originally wheat beer from Świdnica was served.

Being in Wrocław, you need to watch how you tread so as not to step on any of the Wrocław dwarfs that, as it is said in this area, settled down many years before the first residents of Wrocław.

An important district of Wrocław is the Ostrów Tumski, with many monuments and characteristic gas lanterns. In the evening you can meet there the lamplighter who lights up each of 92 lamps, and in the morning, puts them out - you will recognise him by his cape and bowler.
