It’s official: your favorite summer film festival is back! “LOT Summer Cinema: Towards the Setting Sun” launches on June 2 — a joint project by Kinoteka and LOT Polish Airlines. Another few months of the best films watched under the stars, right from the heart of Warsaw, are ahead of us.

As the event’s title partner, we’re making sure that this summer you can freely — and completely free of charge — travel through some of the most fascinating cinematic corners of the world.

About LOT Summer Cinema

“LOT Summer Cinema: Towards the Setting Sun” is a project launched in 2023 on Kinoteka’s initiative. It combines the unique atmosphere of outdoor screenings with a film selection that represents the very best of Warsaw’s largest independent cinema. This year’s programme features both absolute classics and the latest pre-premiere releases.

Admission to all screenings is 100% FREE.

Screening days and times

We’ll see you all summer long every:

Tuesday
Thursday
Saturday

The screen turns on right after sunset.

June and July: starts at 9:30 PM
August and September: starts at 8:30 PM

Outdoor zone – what you need to know

To make sure everything goes smoothly and comfortably, here are a few practical details:

Come early: The outdoor zone opens 2 hours before the screening — the perfect time to grab a good spot and soak up the summer atmosphere.
Deckchairs: We have plenty, but please remember that the number is limited. First come, first served.
Keep the vibe going — and stay warm: Evenings can get chilly, so be sure to bring a sweatshirt, jacket, or blanket.
What if it rains? No worries — we don’t cancel screenings. In case of heavy rain, we move indoors and the screening takes place as planned in Kinoteka’s cinema halls.
Language: All films are screened in their original language versions with Polish subtitles.
