Flying to India? Check if you need a visa to India!
When travelling to India as a tourist, a visa and a valid passport are required.
A visa is a document which is a written permission to cross the border or stay in a foreign country. Regardless of nationality, everyone leaving the airport must have a visa to enter India.
When planning a trip to India, also make sure that your biometric passport is valid for min. 6 months from the date of your intended entry into India. This is one of the prerequisites to be met when you fly to India.
How to get a visa to India?
The simplest solution will be a pre-purchased travel eVisa.
Using an e-Visa for India purchased through Sherpa, you can enter the country twice and stay for 30 days. Keep the printed visa with you during your stay in India.
To purchase an electronic visa to India you will need:
- Details of Your accommodation
- Passport details and contact information
- Contact details for the local sponsor or host where you have accommodation
- A credit or debit card for payment
The processing time for a visa application to India is approximately 5 working days. You can submit your application entirely online, with no need to send documents to the embassy. The document is valid for 30 days.
Please note that special permits are required when travelling to certain parts of India.
If You are going to Sikkim, Arunaćal Pradeś, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, or to the Andaman or Nicobar Islands, make sure you have a RAP (Restricted Area Permit) or PAP (Protected Area Permit).
