Holidays in Cyprus
Cyprus' attractions invite visitors all year long. The Island of Aphrodite offers resting on a beach, trekking in beautiful natural scenery, and historic walks around archaeological complexes. Going to Cyprus, consider renting a car, but remember that the country has left-hand road traffic.
Cyprus – must-see attractions
Ancient Cyprus - sightseeing
The ancient city of Kurion is among the island's best attractions. The impressively large archaeological complex consists of three sites – an ancient city (including a spectacular Roman amphitheatre), the Sanctuary of Apollo and an Olympic stadium. Its seaside location will offer you breathtaking views and memorable landscapes. The archaeological park in the very centre of Pafos is the next interesting stop on the map of attractions. Kato Pafos is a complex of ancient and prehistoric remains with excellently preserved ancient mosaics. We suggest that you spend a few hours in each park to fully absorb the atmosphere of both places.
Cyprus - tourists resorts
Ayia Napa, Larnaca and Pafos are the most popular tourist resorts in Cyprus. Each offers relaxation on scenic beaches, walks along sea promenades, and an opportunity to try Mediterranean cuisine in numerous restaurants. Nissa Beach in Ayia Napa is the most beautiful beach in Cyprus. Its crystal clear water and soft golden sand make is an ideal holiday destination. Our hint: Upon arrival, before you continue your journey, you might want to stop briefly to watch flamingos that have their habitat at the salt lake near the airport.
Trekking in Cyprus
The best trekking locations in Cyprus, worth visiting even for one day, include the Akamas Peninsula and Troodos Mountains. The former particularly attracts visitors who want to have a rest away from crowds of tourists. The park tempts with its impressive cliffs, olive hills and ravines. It also has gorgeous bays filled with azure water. You can explore the local paths 50 (nearly 50 km long) on foot, on horseback, or by mountain bike, quad or off-road vehicle. Although Cyprus is rather not associated with large mountain ranges, Troodos will surprise you with its scale. It also offers trekking paths among scenic views in the summer, while in the winter it attracts ski lovers. In addition, Troodos offer sightseeing of Byzantine art monuments - dozens of churches and monasteries located in picturesque villages.
