On May 6 at 5:40 PM, our Dreamliner took off from Warsaw bound for San Francisco. See how we celebrated!

Celebrating together

Passengers were welcomed by a specially prepared photo wall for the occasion, where they could take commemorative photos, and on board everyone received a souvenir magnet as a gift.

The entire event was accompanied by an atmosphere of joy and excitement ahead of discovering picturesque San Francisco. The holiday character of the destination was also highlighted by a DJ performance.

The aircraft operating the inaugural WAW–SFO flight was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with registration number SP-LRG.

“Today’s inauguration of the Warsaw–San Francisco service is not only an expansion of our route network, but above all an investment in a destination that connects business, innovation and global ambitions. With the debut of this route, San Francisco becomes the sixth airport in the United States to be included in our regular network. This connection will create real opportunities for building business partnerships, exchanging knowledge and strengthening economic relations between Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, and the West Coast of the United States. At the same time, we are opening up access for travellers to one of the world’s most inspiring cities, valued for its culture, diversity and unique character. I am confident that the new route will serve as a catalyst for both tourism and the development of Polish business.”

- Robert Ludera, Board Member, Chief Commercial Officer, LOT Polish Airlines

Fun facts about San Francisco

To say that San Francisco is captivating would be an understatement!

Did you know that:

  • The Golden Gate Bridge is not red by accident — its official color is International Orange. It was chosen because it stands out best in the fog that often blankets the city.
  • Lombard Street is known as “the most crooked street in the world” — it has eight sharp turns along a short stretch, allowing cars to safely drive down the steep hill.
  • Alcatraz was one of the world’s most famous prisons. Escaping from it was considered impossible… although several inmates tried, and their fate remains a mystery to this day.
  • The famous cable cars are still in operation — they are one of the last systems of their kind in the world and a moving historic landmark.
  • San Francisco is located near Silicon Valley, where giants such as Apple, Google, and Facebook were born.
  • San Francisco has more than 40 hills — which is why the city is full of steep streets and spectacular views.
