LOT for environment
We focus our environmental activities on three main areas:
- Reducing CO2 emissions from aircraft operations through fuel efficiency and sustainable aviation fuels
- Reducing the use of single-use products on board our aircraft.
- Executing environmental projects to protect nature and biodiversity.
New environmental policy
Responding to the growing challenges of mitigating climate change, we have adopted a new, updated environmental policy. We are committed to taking measures to minimize the environmental impact of flight operations and corporate activities.
We declare that we are striving for continuous improvement in environmental management, by acting in accordance with environmental legislation and taking initiatives to reduce air emissions, rational use of raw materials, responsible waste management.

LOT once again participates in the Carbon Dioxide Unit Auction
The end of April saw the presentation of certificates for the purchase of absorbed carbon dioxide units in a carbon dioxide auction organized by the State Forests. LOT purchased 1081 JDW (carbon dioxide units), corresponding to the same amount of tons of carbon dioxide absorbed by Polish forests.

Decarbonization strategy
As part of our joint decarbonization strategy for PGL Group, we are committed to reducing Well-to-Wake (WTW) greenhouse gas emissions associated with aviation fuel use by 45% per ton-kilometer (RTK) by 2030, compared to 2019.
To achieve the reduction target, our decarbonization strategy is based on initiatives:

Partnerships and certificates
We want our activities to be transparent and validated by external entities, so we are proud of the many collaborations, memberships in prominent organizations and certifications that validate our efforts.
Fuel efficiency
Fuel efficiency, that is a series of measures aimed at reducing the amount of fuel burned during flight, and thus reducing the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. This effect is achieved by modernizing the fleet and optimizing flight operations.
PLL LOT's reduction target, included in the Polish Aviation Group's target, has been endorsed by SBTi as being in line with the scientific methodology and the global initiative to limit the increase in the Earth's average temperature to no more than 1.5 degrees Celsius (a short-term target, pertaining to Scopes 1 and Category 3 of Scope 3 according to GHG Protocol terminology). On board
Guided by the principle of striving for continuous improvement, we are constantly improving the products offered on board. Whenever possible, we replace disposable products with reusable ones. As a result, we have continuously reduced the amount of waste generated.
