Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv (TLV)

Tel Aviv Airport (TLV) once operated under the name of Lod Airport, due to its geographical location. Later, however, the Airport was renamed, and its patron was Israel's first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion. The Airport is the largest of its kind in Israel - so it should come as no surprise that it is one of the best-guarded airports in the world. In 2019, Ben Gurion Airport handled nearly 25 million passengers.

Tel Aviv Airport is located less than 20 kilometers from the city center. Transfers to Tel Aviv are provided by several types of public transportation. On the lower level of Terminal 3 you'll find a train station, from which you can also get to other surrounding towns. Ben Gurion Airport is also connected to Tel Aviv by lines of various bus carriers. Minibuses and - of course - cabs are also available here. You can easily get around the airport with special shuttle buses, which operate between Terminals 1 and 3 and between the long-term parking lot and Terminal 3. 

Since the complex has four terminals, comfortable transfers between them are made possible by, among others, special free-of-charge buses. The top level security ensured at the Ben Gurion Airport comes at a price, so prepare for security that will sometimes take a bit longer than elsewhere. The airport's infrastructure includes amenities for families travelling with children as well as for persons with disabilities. There is a wide range of cafés and restaurants, as well as ATMs, bureaus de change and a post office. You can also do shopping in numerous shops, including duty free, and enjoy special business zones.
