In August, we celebrated the 80th anniversary of the launch of the Warsaw–Prague route.
Eight Decades of Flights to Prague
Some destinations have held a special place in our route network for many years. Prague is certainly one of them – this August marks 80 years since LOT’s first scheduled flight between the capitals of Poland and the Czech Republic.
Douglas DC-3 on the First Flights to Prague
The first aircraft operated this route on 7 August 1946. At the time, the Douglas DC-3 could carry just 21 passengers and travelled at a speed of around 300 km/h.
To Prague in One Hour on Modern Aircraft
Today, we fly to Prague on modern Embraer and Boeing 737 aircraft, offering up to 33 flights a week. During the flight, we’ll also serve you a sweet bun, water, coffee and tea.
Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Route Together
A lot has changed, but one thing has remained the same – for eight decades, we have been bringing our passengers closer to the Czech capital. We also celebrated this milestone anniversary at Prague Airport, where the flight from Warsaw was welcomed with a traditional water salute.
