Women traveling while pregnant

Traveling by plane during pregnancy, if the pregnancy is uncomplicated, usually does not pose any contraindications. However, due to the specifics of flights, we recommend consulting with your doctor before planning your trip. In some cases, depending on the stage of pregnancy or health condition, we may need additional information. Learn more about the documents that need to be completed before traveling.

What is MEDIF?

MEDIF (Medical Information Form) is a medical form required by airlines for passengers who require special care or assistance during the flight due to their medical condition.

Do I always need to fill out a medical certificate while pregnant?

Not always.

  • Women up to 32 weeks of pregnancy do not need to fill out a medical form unless it is a high-risk pregnancy and/or a multiple pregnancy.
  • Women beyond 32 weeks of pregnancy must fill out the medical form.

When and how should the medical form be submitted?

The medical form (MEDIF) must be issued by a doctor no more than 14 days before the trip begins. If the return flight takes place within 14 days from the date of issue, the same certificate is valid. For a longer stay, a new certificate is required for the return flight.

Note! For flights to/from the USA, the medical form (MEDIF) must be issued no more than 10 days before the planned flight. There is no need to provide another medical certificate for the return flight.
