Sustainable development is one of the key pillars on which we base our business decisions.
Sustainable development strategy and objectives
In 2023, we adopted two key documents that clearly define sustainable development as the foundation of our long-term strategy.
- Business Strategy for 2024-2028 — one of its pillars is social responsibility. We have committed to strengthening our actions for the environment, society, and corporate governance.
- Decarbonization Strategy for 2030 — at the same time, a plan with specific targets for reducing our impact on the climate and the environment was developed.
In order to put these commitments into practice and give them greater momentum, we have prepared an ESG Strategy for 2025-2027. This is our declaration that we conduct our operations responsibly and in the spirit of sustainable development.
From 2026, we will publicly report on our progress, showing how we are achieving our goals.
LOT Polish Airlines' ESG strategy is based on three pillars that reflect the UN Sustainable Development Goals and EU reporting standards:
Environmental responsibility ➜
LOT for the environment and climate – we are implementing the assumptions of the decarbonization strategy: we are investing in modern technologies, a less emission-intensive fleet, and sustainable aviation fuels to reduce CO₂ emissions.
Social responsibility ➜
A trustworthy employer and committed carrier – we support our employees, care about their development and well-being, and respond to the needs of passengers and local communities.
Corporate governance and ethics ➜
A transparent and responsible organization – we implement the highest standards, building lasting value based on ethics and responsibility.
When developing our ESG Strategy, we listened to the voices of key stakeholders: passengers, employees, business partners, and local communities. We are also aware of growing regulatory requirements, such as CSRD, CSDDD, and EU Taxonomy, which is why we are already taking steps to fully comply with them and report our progress in a clear, comprehensive, and open manner.
