Musical equipment

A passenger with a musical instrument occupies two seats aboard an Embraer

It's easy to bring your favorite musical instrument on board with us. Here's what you need to know.

Flying with musical intruments

Musical instruments as carry-on

Smaller musical instruments, such as violins, ukuleles, or small keyboards, can be taken on board as part of your carry-on baggage, as long as they fit within the allowed dimensions of 55 x 40 x 23 cm (length x width x depth). The instrument should be placed under the seat in front of you, and the case should provide proper protection.

Booking an extra seat for your instrument

If your instrument is larger (e.g., a cello or guitar) and you don’t want to check it in the hold, you can reserve a seat for it in the cabin (CBBG service). This service comes with additional charges, and you can find more details about purchasing it in our Contact Center. The flight ticket and the instrument transport service must be booked at the same time. The maximum weight for the instrument is 75 kg.

Musical instruments as checked baggage

You can transport larger musical instruments for free if they fit within your checked baggage allowance (with a checked baggage fare). The total dimensions should not exceed 158 cm.

If you wish to transport a larger instrument, an additional fee applies. The length of the instrument should not exceed 200 cm. Be sure to pack your instrument properly before checking it in – a hard case or a protective bag is recommended.
