Start your tour with a visit to the Palace of Serbia (Palata Srbije), which, although it has little in common with a palace, functions as the seat of government and is impressive in its size (it is as large as 60,000 square meters!). Next, head to the Kalemegdan Fortress, located on a hill (within the Kalemegdan Park), which is part of a cultural and historical complex and one of Belgrade residents' favorite recreational spots. See the Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel, which is the most important temple not only in the city, but in the whole country! Built in the Neo-Baroque style, it has a classicist interior and impresses with its splendor and rich decorations.

The weather in May in Belgrade is favorable for walks, and be sure to plan these around the main meeting place of the locals, the Republic Square.
