Baggage on short- and medium haul flights

Check out the limits applicable to carry-on and checked baggage on flights to destinations in Poland, Europe, Middle East (including UAE, Saudi Arabia) and Central Asia (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan).

1. Carry-on baggage

Dimensions of hand luggage on the example of a cabin suitcase

Dimensions of each item of baggage should not exceed 55 cm of height, 40 cm of width, and 23 cm of depth. Total sum of dimensions should not exceed 118 cm.
Carry-on baggage should fit in the overhead locker on board or under the passenger seat in front.
If your carry-on baggage exceeds the allowed limit, an additional charge will apply.
In case of a high number of passengers on the flight, you may be asked to check in your carry-on into the hold — at no additional cost.

Additionally, included in the price of your ticket, you are allowed to bring one personal item as carry-on baggage, which should be placed under the seat in front of you:

Handbag/men's bag (max.2 kg; 40 cm x 35 cm x 12 cm),
a small backpack (max.2 kg; 40 cm x 35 cm x 12 cm),
a sachet/fanny pack (max.2 kg; 40 cm x 35 cm x 12 cm),
a laptop,
an umbrella,
a small photo camera,
a pair of binoculars.

If a passenger carries more than one of the above items, items must be carried within the carry-on baggage. In any other case, additional item shall be counted as an extra piece and passenger shall be charged accordingly.

In addition to one of the above items, passengers are entitled to:

for travelers with children: a folding stroller or a pushchair, as well as baby food,
for people with disabilities: up to two mobility aid devices (e.g., crutches, walker, cane, wheelchair),
medical equipment for personal use (e.g. POC, CPAP, insulin pump etc.) .
duty-free purchases such as alcohol, perfumes, or other small accessories

Dimensions of one baggage item must not exceed 158 cm (height + width + depth).

In the LOT Economy Saver tariff, children are eligible to:

carry-on baggage up to 8 kg (dimensions 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm),

a personal item (max. 2kg, dimensions 40 cm x 35 cm x 12 cm), e.g. a small backpack, a handbag or a bumbag/pouch,

an extra bag with necessities (e.g. special food).

In addition to the above, other tariffs include checked baggage up to 23 kg.

Children above 2 years of age

The same free-of-charge baggage limit as for adults in every cabin class.

As part of your free baggage limit, you can take a foldable stroller or a car seat, which will be collected from you before boarding the aircraft and handed back to you after disembarking.

Children at the 2-12 years of age or below 2 years of age with a separate seat booked:

As part of your free baggage limit, you can take a foldable stroller and a car seat. In this case, the staff will collect the stroller before boarding and you will take the car restraint system with you on board.

Please note that an infant below 2 years of age who occupies a separate seat must travel in a special car seat.

Check whether your stroller has any protruding parts that may easily fall off and make sure that they are adequately secured.

If you decide that you do not need a stroller during your travel, hand it in at the check-in counter and collect it upon arrival. Don’t worry if your child suddenly wants to use a stroller in the transfer area – free strollers are available at Warsaw Chopin Airport.
On long-haul flights operated by Boeing 787 'Dreamliners, your little one will travel in a true royal style.

Order free (for two people in a reservation) bassinet service through LOT Contact Center no later than 24 hours before departure. On board you will also be given a pillow and duvet so that your child can spend the duration of the flight in comfort. Due to seating restrictions, we suggest that you order the bassinet service as soon as you purchase your ticket to ensure that it is confirmed.

The child who will be traveling in the special bassinet should weigh no more than 12 kilograms and be no more than 75 centimetres tall on the day of the flight. The dimensions of the bassinet on board are: 84 cm x 40 cm.

It is not possible to bring your own bassinet on board our aircraft, but we guarantee that the available bassinets will meet your child’s needs.

Attention! For travel on Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, different dimensions apply - a child on the day of the flight should not weigh more than 11 kg or be more than 70 cm tall."
The first item of checked baggage in the LOT Economy Saver tariff can be purchased and paid for at any time before departure via the "My Reservation" tab, at lot Contact Center and any LOT ticketing office.

Non-standard baggage, e.g. surfboards or bicycles must be checked in separately at a dedicated oversize baggage check-in counter. Airport staff will tell you whether your baggage qualifies as oversize baggage and where you should go to next. Check the rules of the carriage of sports equipment and the check-in information.

Provisions regulating the air carrier liability for baggage damage provide for the liability limited to 1288 SDR. A passenger can take advantage of the increased limit of the carrier’s liability for baggage by submitting a special declaration and paying the appropriate fee at the airport. For the declaration to be submitted, the declared baggage value should not exceed 2 x 1288 SDR and the passenger needs to fill out a form and get a receipt confirmation after the payment.
